Van Rensselaer’s hosts two to three Special Wine Dinners each year - generally, one in the Spring and two in the Fall. These five-course dinners are a wonderful opportunity to try some innovative, new wines paired with some delicious & creative courses from our Chef & kitchen staff. Our wine consultants are present to talk about the winemaking process of each of the wines we try. Always a sell-out, reservations need to made early for Van Rensselaer’s Wine Dinners.

For the last ten years, Van Rensselaer’s has hosted a Benefit Spaghetti Supper, usually taking place at the end of October. These community-spirited events have helped to raise money for a number of different organizations on the Outer Cape – Friends of the Outer Cape Visiting Nurse Association, Nauset Football and, most recently, Aim Thrift Shop Volunteers for the Benefit of Outer Cape Health Services. Some years have featured an entree buffet, while other years have featured a dessert buffet. All in all, though, it’s a lively evening filled with neighbors and friends, hard-working volunteers and good Italian food. Visit with old friends or make some new acquaintances at this Autumn’s Annual Spaghetti Supper.

The V.R.’s Annual Cross-Country Golf Tournament is held every year at the end of October. Peter Hall, along with his friends, mischievously re-arrange the regular course at Chequessett Yacht & Country Club in Wellfleet for a full day of laughs, good fun & great people.
Every year presents new challenges as players tee off at one hole and aim (over the trees or onto the beach) to a different pin. Normal play, thankfully, does take place for a certain number of holes. However, the person who best hits a golf ball with a tennis racquet may have the undermining chance at a good score.
A buffet dinner follows the tournament back at Van Rensselaer’s Restaurant along with an awards presentation – and EVERYONE is a winner.
A portion of the proceeds each year goes to a local charitable organization.
